Spicer Propane acquires Wrightington Gas

Spicer Propane of Groton, Connecticut, purchased Wrightington Gas of Kingston, Massachusetts.

In 1950, Arthur Wrightington and his wife, Josephine, established Wrightington Bottle Gas. Their son Kevin worked with his parents until he acquired the business from them in 1988 and then changed the name to Wrightington Gas Inc. in 1989. Under Kevin’s leadership, the business took off, and soon his wife, Linda, left her job to join her family in the business venture. They grew the business through word of mouth, referrals and moving billboards along the South Shore of Massachusetts. Years later, Kevin and Linda’s son and daughter, who also worked at Wrightington, continued to create a model company with outstanding service, excellent customer retention and long-term, well-trained employees.

Spicer Propane distributes propane gas and heating oil and provides HVAC installations and service to eastern Connecticut, southern Connecticut shoreline, western Rhode Island and now the South Shore of Massachusetts.

“We are excited about expanding our footprint into the South Shore of Massachusetts and continuing to provide Wrightington’s customers with the quality of service they are accustomed to,” says Jon Holstein, vice president of Spicer Propane.

Blue Peak Resources, an adviser to Wrightington Gas, served as the facilitator and negotiator of the sale. The Blue Peak team provided the financial valuations, prepared the business offering package to potential buyers and assisted in the negotiations and final deal terms.
